We live in a world that is being gradually flattened by technology. Our society and culture is supported and driven by technology. As of today, a lot of industries depend on technology for efficiency and productivity. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that most of that which makes our lives better depends on software. In the last decade, we have seen software take over the driving seat. Without the computing and software industry, the growth it spawned since its inception would never have been possible.
It is a well known fact that the software industry is growing at an unprecedented pace, perhaps better than any other industry. Jobs in the software sector are some of the best paying ones. Thus, a career in software is extremely lucrative both in monetary as well as future security terms. When people think of software related jobs, they only thing of programming. It is definitely a large part of the industry however, it is by no means the be all and end all. There are several other roles: testers, developers, designers, computer scientists, etc.
Since software related work is highly complex, almost every tool and platform has related certification programs to help train people in the proper use of such software. To clarify it with an example, HP has something called Quality Center. It is a very good tool used for software lifecycle management. Similarly, Sun (now Oracle) offers certification for JAVA technologies and Cisco has its own certification programs for networking technologies. Since most software companies themselves use Quality Center or a similar tool, it makes sense to apply for Quality Center training.
Since version 11, HP made significant changes to Quality Center and now calls it Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) v11. As obvious, it also has a certification course and training. Quality Center certified individuals are in high demand and are actively recruited and retained by all major software companies. However, it isn’t exactly a cakewalk. Not everyone can (or does) qualify in the first attempt.
Planning and preparation are the key factors when you’re trying to get certified for Quality Center. Mock tests and quizzes can be really helpful, not just for Quality Center certification tests but for any similar certification.Remember, software is an intellectual product, a product of pure logic. Hence, that makes working hard equally as important as working smart.
