It is fair to say that everybody has pet hates, and things that annoy them, but you can be pretty certain that when it comes to the office, others will share your annoyances about that particularly frustrating indiviual.
If you’ve not heard anything of the sort, and don’t know of this annoying character, it is highly likely that you, yourself, are the person that is muttered about!
Firstly, try to remember to always talk quietly when making phone calls. It can be incredibly distracting for those around you, who will struggle to concentrate on what they are doing if all they can hear is your booming voice.
The classic ‘brown nose’ is the other person who frustrates the entire population of the office. You have to decide whether you would rather look like a suck up and become hated just so you get the praise you so desperately crave, or you can just get on with your job as normal and hope that your colleagues like you. However, I can promise you this, sucking up to your boss will not result in them liking you more.
The colleague that constantly complains is not the most hated person in the office but can still go a long way in being an annoyance if they choose the wrong time to have moan. If possible, you should avoid filling these boots, as the complainer can be become very easily predicted. Yes we get it; your boss doesn’t understand your underrated talents. I understand; you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. Do one!
It is questionable as to why this is, but there is one particular type of person that manages to survive the office. The office ‘Gossip’ is a tricky one to be. By being a gossip people will, initially, gravitate to you as they are keen to hear the secrets that you know, however, this will result in you being outcast when they soon realise that you cannot be trusted.
By avoiding these stereotypes you should find your office job a bearable one. Of course, an element of personal hygiene will also aid you in your success. No one likes a man that smells musty!
