The Value of PMI Certifications

Project management professionals all over the globe have the goal of climbing the success ladder to work great achievements, and test themselves with many different projects because they desire to be recognized for the amount of time and work they put into their career. There are five PMI certifications available depending on your education and experience.

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) – This credential is for candidates who contribute as team members and subject matter experts. They are responsible for individual project tasks in their area of expertise.

PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) – The PMI-SP is a professional project scheduling manager.

PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) – These credential holders are skilled in project risk management.

Project Management Professional (PMP) – The PMP leads the project.

Program Management Professional (PgMP) – The PgMP supervises, defines, and initiates multiple projects.

PMI certifications each have educational and experiential requirements that must be met prior to taking the exams. For example, PMP certification requirements include a secondary education diploma and five years of experience with a minimum of 7,500 hours of leading and directing project tasks and 35 hours of formal project management education. Applicants with a four year degree need 3 years of project management experience with a minimum of 4,500 hours of leading and directing project tasks along with the 35 hours of project management education

As you can tell, meeting the requirements will take a lot of time, hard work and dedication on your part. You will also have to prepare for the lengthy exams by studying hard and taking exam simulations and signing up for training courses.

It’s not easy to become certified, but if you do succeed, it will say a lot about the kind of person and worker that you are. It shows that while you were climbing the latter of success, even though there was a higher level of step that seemed unreachable, you persevered and attained your goal because you understood how necessary that next step would be for yourself and for the projects that others will entrust you with. PMI certifications can not be achieved by just anyone, but only by professionals who have the work ethics and determination to take on tough projects and situations.
