Type of Career: Horizontal variety

Change how often:  1-2 years  

Direction of change: Levels are not relevant     

Reason for changes:  Variety, challenge, doing what you want to regardless
        
Type of Career: Steady more of the same

Change how often:  Rarely unless forced

Direction of change:   Stays the same

Type of Career: Vertical the ladder

Change how often: Rarely unless forcedjobs are chnaged for advancement

Direction of change:  Upwards

Reason for changes: Achievement, status, material success, power   

Type of Career: Cyclical

Change how often   5-10 years

Direction of Change: Levels are not relevant

Reason for changes: Variety, personal growth
